    How to Stop Vomiting Fast

    Vomiting can be a debilitating condition that can cause severe dehydration if left untreated for some time, which is why a sufferer should strive to know how to stop vomiting fast.

    Vomiting is uncomfortable and unpleasant; it is often due to reasons including, but not limited to, seasickness, poisoning, pregnancy or flu. Though it may be considerate to treat the cause, eradicating vomiting rapidly may help in alleviating the pain. 

    Effective Ways To Stop Vomiting Fast

    Here are some proven ways and measures one can use to stop vomiting within the shortest time possible.

    Rest and Hydration

    It is traditionally recommended to rest when one is vomiting. Do not be seated up, relax as much as possible in a Fowler’s position or in fetus position to avoid aspiration and to calm your stomach. Hydration is equally important. Take clear fluid as water, homemade or commercial oral rehydration solutions and clear soup to avoid dehydration. Do not overfill your stomach this will lead to vomiting more often.

    BRAT Diet

    The BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast; also called BIND because all are bland) are foods that may ease nausea. Bananas are light in characteristics and also contain a good amount of potassium. White rice is; very mild, plain and comes in handy whenever one wants to avoid gargantuan stomach aches. Applesauce contributes to some nutrients without being demanding on the stomach. Before each meal it is useful to eat plain, unbuttered toast, which will absorb stomach acids.     Antiemetic Medications

    The first steps that patients can take to manage nausea are the subsequent use of over-the-counter medications such as antiemetic, those that stop vomiting. Pepto-Bismol aka bismuth subsalicylate prevents damage to the stomach lining and lessens vomiting significantly. A type of drug used for motion sickness and nausea is Dimenhydrinate otherwise known as Dramamine.

    Deep Breathing

    When the nausea becomes severe, then slow, deep breathing does work to decrease the stimuli to the nervous system. Breathe in through your nose slowly, and count to five, and then breathe out slowly through your mouth, counting to five as well. Repeat several times.

    Acupressure

    Pressure that is applied on certain parts of the human body can assist to alleviate nausea. The exact spot for this is the P6 point which is found on the inner region of the wrist hence can be rubbed to bring relief.

    Those that are not severe cases of vomiting can be easily managed by resting, taking fluids, some changes in the diet, home remedies, drugs bought over the counter and doing some breathing exercises.
